  • Sundaram Business Services is part of the Sundaram Finance Group in India, was founded in 2001, and builds offshore teams for businesses and accounting firms in the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
  • Muckin is a named team in our own Pretoria office, sold as monthly seats, reviewed and signed off in the UK, rolling monthly.
  • Sundaram does not publish prices or terms; Muckin publishes every seat price on /pricing/.
  • Sundaram suits a practice that wants a provider backed by a large financial group and an offshore team built around its own processes. Muckin suits a practice that wants a small named team with UK sign-off at a published price.

We've described Sundaram Business Services from its own public website as of October 2026; if anything here is out of date, tell us and we'll fix it.

What Sundaram Business Services says it does

Sundaram Business Services says it was "Founded in 2001" and is part of the Sundaram Finance Group, which it describes as "a financial conglomerate with a 65+ year history". Its UK finance and accounting page claims "400+ employees", "100+ clients" and work "Across 4 continents", with clients in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and India. Its about page says it has team members in Australia, India and the UK, and names Chennai in a team biography; it does not list its delivery centres. It states ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and an ISO 9001:2015 quality management system, and compliance with GDPR and the UK Data Protection Act 2018.

For UK businesses and accounting firms, the page lists bookkeeping (accounts receivable and payable, bank and credit card reconciliation, VAT preparation, employee and director reimbursements, and a monthly reporting pack), accounting (financial statements for partnerships and private limited companies, and corporation tax) and compliance (accounts and VAT finalisation). Payroll and self assessment are not listed on the UK page. Sundaram's other service lines include self-managed super funds, portfolio management services and mortgage support.

It sells one way of working, which it calls extended office support: "we work with our clients to build high-performing offshore teams". It says "We guarantee minimum productive hours for your dedicated FTE team members that you can scale up as necessary", runs a "5D" transition that can be remote or on site, and holds regular face-to-face meetings with clients. Prices, a minimum term and a notice period are not published, and the review steps inside its quality system are not described. Marketing or content for your own practice is not listed. What Muckin does

We do one thing: a production team for your practice, sold as monthly seats. A seat is one person in one role. A Production seat is a bookkeeper, a payroll and admin person or a marketer. An Accounts seat covers year-end accounts, CT600s, self assessment and management accounts. A Senior seat is a qualified accountant who can run a portfolio.

The people are employees in our own office in Pretoria, South Africa. Pretoria is one to two hours ahead of the UK all year, so they are at their desks when you are. They work inside your own software under their own logins, white-label by default. Every job is reviewed and signed off in the UK before it reaches you, and you remain the signatory on everything that goes out to a client or HMRC. Full detail is on /how-it-works/.

Marketing is its own seat. Guides, newsletters, site updates and social posts are written by a marketer on your team, priced as a Production seat. See /what-we-do/marketing/.

Who should pick which

Pick Sundaram if you want the backing of a large Indian financial group and a provider with more than twenty years of transitions behind it, including work for large Australian accounting firms. Its extended office approach suits a practice that wants a sizeable offshore team built around its own processes, with guaranteed productive hours, an on-site transition if you want one and regular face-to-face meetings. A UK accounting firm quoted on its page says it can "engage additional workers in India" when it gets busy.

Pick Muckin if you want payroll and self assessment in the same team as your bookkeeping and accounts, a published price for each seat, and every job reviewed and signed off in the UK before it reaches you. Seats are 40, 80 or 160 hours a month on a rolling monthly basis, so a one-to-ten-partner practice can start with one seat and add more as the work grows.

Questions

Does Sundaram publish its prices?

Its UK page and engagement model page do not give prices, a minimum term or a notice period, so you would need to ask Sundaram for a quote. Muckin publishes every seat price on /pricing/ and is rolling monthly with one month's notice.

Where does each team sit?

Sundaram says it has team members in Australia, India and the UK, and names Chennai on its about page. Muckin's team is in our own office in Pretoria, South Africa, one to two hours ahead of the UK.

Does Sundaram cover payroll for UK practices?

Its UK finance and accounting page lists bookkeeping, VAT, financial statements and corporation tax, and does not list payroll or self assessment. At Muckin, payroll sits on a Production seat and self assessment on an Accounts seat.
