What Mindspace Outsourcing says it does

Mindspace Outsourcing Limited lists a UK office in Morden (SM4) and an India office in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Its about page says it has provided "bookkeeping and tax outsourcing services since 2007" from an "ISO 9001 & 27001 certified offshore center", and its home page lists 120 team members and 200 business and accounting firms served. Its page for accounting firms lists bookkeeping and VAT returns, self assessment, payroll, company secretarial support, year-end accounts and CT600, and management accounting. It also works directly for businesses in the UK and Ireland, and says its bookkeepers are "SAGE, Quick Books & XERO Certified".

Its engagement model page names three options. In the Dedicated FTE Model, "your own dedicated accounting team or individual" works only on your work, with regular reporting. The Hourly option is invoiced at the end of each month. The third is a prepaid block of 30, 60 or 100 hours, bought for a three-month period. Its workflow page describes three ways of working: connecting to your computer online, processing records offline in Sage or QuickBooks and returning a backup file, or working through a remote desktop you provide. In each, a Senior Team Lead quality-checks the output and "verifies the job" before it comes back to you.

Prices are not published. The home page offers "Fixed fee pricing and no binding contract" and says Mindspace aims to cut your present cost by 50%; the site has a bookkeeping cost calculator and a quote form. A free trial is not mentioned. Marketing or content for your own practice is not listed. Their site: mindspaceoutsourcing.co.uk.

What Muckin does

We do one thing: a production team for your practice, sold as monthly seats. A seat is one person in one role. A Production seat is a bookkeeper, a payroll and admin person or a marketer. An Accounts seat covers year-end accounts, CT600s, self assessment and management accounts. A Senior seat is a qualified accountant who can run a portfolio.

The people are employees in our own office in Pretoria, South Africa. Pretoria is one to two hours ahead of the UK all year, so they are at their desks when you are. They work inside your own software under their own logins, white-label by default. Every job is reviewed and signed off in the UK before it reaches you, and you remain the signatory on everything that goes out to a client or HMRC. Full detail is on /how-it-works/.

Pick Mindspace if you want a provider with a UK office, a long record in bookkeeping and VAT, and a choice of how to buy: hourly for seasonal work, a prepaid block for a quarter, or a dedicated person. Its offline workflow suits a practice that wants records processed in Sage or QuickBooks and returned as a backup file without giving remote access to its systems. Its list of services also includes company secretarial support and audit support.

Pick Muckin if you want the price before the first call and the same named people working inside your own software every day, with each job reviewed and signed off in the UK before it reaches you. Seats are sized at 40, 80 or 160 hours a month, roll monthly on one month's notice, and marketing is available as its own seat.
